Based on Sardinia, the MEDSEA Foundation is a non-profit organization focused on protecting natural and cultural heritage – sustaining biodiversity and keeping the Mediterranean Sea (and Lands) healthy. Following a wave of forest fires on Sardinia, MEDSEA are working to regenerate habitats and reforest the island. ROAMER will be directly supporting “HOPE FOR SENNARIOLO”. Through the redevelopment of the Santa Vittoria site in the Municipality of Sennariolo, which was ravaged by the destructive Montiferru fire in summer 2021, we aim to restore the ancient forest, thereby safeguarding biodiversity and the local area from future extreme events.

INFO & FAQ

If you can’t find the answer to your questions, feel free to contact us info@roamer-rendezvous.cc

How do we get there? Where do we meet, and finish?
We’d love to encourage overland/sea travel for ROAMER. Ride! There are ferry options into Porto Torres, Olbia and Santa Teresa di Gallura (if you go via Corsica). The same applies for driving. If flying, the nearest airports are Olbia and Alghero. Unfortunately, we can’t help with parking vehicles at this stage Central Olbia, on Friday morning. We’ll have a cosy place to register, meet other ROAMERS, and leave any bags / bike-boxes. You’ll be back there by mid-Sunday afternoon
What if I don’t have any gravel riding, bikepacking or camping kit?
We’re here to enable bikepacking adventures, so are keen to help! We have a camping package available on booking, access to bikepacking bags if you need some, and we’re partnering with local bike shop(s) for ROAMER. If you need to hire a bike contact https://www.bike4more.com/; if you need a general shop or mechanical support contact https://www.fancellociclisport.com/
Any nice-to-haves for ROAMER?
Towel and swimmers, your own #coffeeoutside brew kit (and other bikepacking bits!), favourite snacks, sketchbook and watercolours, cocktail shaker etc
Are there fancy facilities like showers and electricity?
Yes, but limited. Please expect to roam wild for a couple of days
Can ROAMER transfer my bags?
In short, no. We’ll only be transferring the hired camping kit that we need to pre-pitch both evenings
Do I need insurance?
We recommend travel insurance to cover riding bikes in Sardinia, and for any travel disruption. Hopefully neither of these will be an issue, or needed
What bike is best?
With a mix of chunky gravel tracks, trails, and tarmac roads, a wide-tyre gravel bike is best suited, but anything other than a road bike (you’ll want 35c+ tyres and low gearing) will be good for ROAMER Sardinia
Is there an essential ROAMER kit list?
Yes, and we’ll be in touch about this via email post-booking. Everything you need for three days riding and camping outdoors, basically. Don’t forget, you can hire items if you need to
What will the weather be like?
Sardinia in late Spring? Expect it to be dry and warm (early-mid 20°Cs), and the sea to be around 20°C. However, do come prepared for adverse weather
How quick do I need to ride? Or, rather, how slow can we ride?
ROAMER by name, ROAMER by nature – we’re out for a long time, and a good time. With lengthy, light and warm days, ROAMER distances are manageable at a leisurely ‘party’ pace
Can ROAMER cater for all diets and dietary requirements?
Yes! We’ll be in touch to ask about any dietary requirements, allergies, and medical conditions
